Jessica Alba Is To Play Barbarella

Jessica Alba is to play Barbarella in a remake of the classic science-fiction film.

The Sin City and Fantastic Four star take on the role erotic, made famous by Jane Fonda in 1968.

Jessica Alba, 27, landed the part after director Robert Rodriguez separated from his girlfriend actress, Rose McGowan.

He had planned to remake the film with Rose in the leading role, the studio bosses, but refused to finance the £ 50million because Rose has not been a big enough name.

An insider said: "Now Rose is on the photo, Jessica Alba is perfect - it is beautiful and can be a badass on the screen."
